King Charles Awards 4 Entertainment Honours to Idris Elba, Torvill and Dean, Meera Syal

Windsor Castle hosted Tuesday’s investiture, where Sir Idris Elba received his knighthood, Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean were honoured for ice skating and voluntary service, and Dame Meera Syal and Paul Elliott also collected awards.
Elba, 53, was recognised for services to young people, reflecting work including his 2022 Elba Hope Foundation and his own early support from the King’s Trust, then the Prince’s Trust.
Torvill, 68, said the honour felt like a fitting end to a career they had already marked with a final tour last year, after the 1984 Olympic champions retired from performing.
Syal, 74, was honoured for literature, drama and charity, while Elliott, 68, received an MBE for charitable service linked in part to his support for Marie Curie after the charity cared for his late brother Barry.
