Digital Foundry said PS5 delivers the most consistent overall Final Fantasy VII Rebirth experience, beating newly added Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2 versions on balance of image quality, performance and stability.
Xbox Series X and S were flagged for a camera judder bug in performance mode and broken VRR support, while Series X often misses 60 FPS—dropping into the 50s and sometimes low 40s in open-world areas.
Xbox Series X still has strengths, including a 1368p peak internal resolution in performance mode and stable native 4K in graphics mode, but Digital Foundry said those gains are undermined by unresolved performance issues.
Switch 2 runs at 540p-1080p docked and 380p-756p handheld with DLSS, generally holding 30 FPS and preserving key effects, though it relies on lower-quality textures, reduced foliage and shorter shadow draw distances.
