67 kg — up from barely 20 kg when she began — marked the woman's birthday deadlift milestone after two years of strength training.
Weakness, poor balance and difficulty carrying grandchildren pushed her to start lifting at 65, training three times a week with a coach before progressing from bodyweight moves to dumbbells and barbell work.
90 to 120 grams of daily protein and 20 to 30 grams of fibre supported her recovery and endurance as her balance improved and stairs no longer required a railing.
Three weekly sessions now center on functional strength and bone density, with deadlifts, Bulgarian split squats and weekly plyometrics helping her handle travel, stairs and active time with grandchildren more easily.
