Fireball Draws Nearly 200 Reports Across 9 States and Ontario

Nearly 200 sightings of a fireball were logged around 10 p.m. Monday, with reports spanning Illinois and at least eight other states.
Illinois produced many of the reports, including Chicago, Aurora, Waukegan, Oak Lawn and Glen Ellyn, while Indiana sightings included Valparaiso and Fort Wayne.
The American Meteor Society also received reports from Kentucky, New York, Ohio and Wisconsin, plus one from Ontario, Canada.
Home camera footage posted by the society showed a bright flash crossing the sky in Michigan, about an hour northwest of Detroit.
