A 75-minute Achieving Best Evidence interview with Complainant B was played to jurors at Newry Crown Court, with the woman alleging Sir Jeffrey Donaldson raped and indecently assaulted her as a child.
Ten of the 18 charges Donaldson denies relate to Complainant B and concern alleged offences between 1985 and 1991; she told police weeks before his March 2024 arrest that he put his hands down her underwear "quite a lot."
In the interview, she described an alleged rape when she was of primary school age, saying she pretended to be asleep because she thought shouting was pointless and felt sick and anxious the next day.
Donaldson also denies charges involving a second complainant over alleged offences between 1999 and 2008, while his wife Lady Eleanor Donaldson denies five aiding-and-abetting counts and is not participating after being ruled unfit for a conventional trial.
