USS Ford Returns Home After 1 Year, Enabling Repairs on $13 Billion Carrier

USS Ford has returned home after nearly a year at sea, clearing the way for repairs to a major plumbing problem aboard the aircraft carrier.
The homecoming also lets the crew take leave after the extended deployment, while maintenance teams can finally address issues that were harder to fix underway.
The repair work now shifts attention from the carrier’s long time at sea to restoring systems on one of the U.S. Navy’s most expensive warships.
