June 8 is the effective date for Trump’s revised Section 232 tariffs, which cut duties on some steel and aluminum derivative imports—including certain farm machinery and HVAC equipment—to 15% from 25%.
The proclamation also puts mobile industrial equipment such as bulldozers and forklifts under a 15% tariff when imported from trade-deal countries, while allowing a 10% rate if capital equipment contains at least 85% U.S.-melted and poured or smelted and cast metal by weight.
Two additional derivative categories—steel racks and aluminum lithographic plates—will newly face 25% duties under the order.
The White House said the changes, which run through Dec. 31, 2027, are meant to spur near-term investment and rebuild the U.S. industrial base.
