WalletHub placed Utah third among U.S. state economies, trailing only Massachusetts and Washington in its latest national ranking.
Utah’s adjusted median household income tops the nation at more than $91,600, while the state also scores strongly on business friendliness and investment in technology.
The state has the fourth-highest growth in number of businesses, a high level of startup activity and fast-growing firms, and the sixth-highest share of jobs in high-tech industries.
WalletHub said those strengths are reinforced by Utah’s large share of STEM professionals, a workforce mix it sees as supporting future growth.
