Tropical Storm Jangmi Nears Japan With 975-hPa Core as Heavy Rain Threatens Through Wednesday

Jangmi was 90 kilometers south-southwest of Naha at 4 p.m. Monday, moving north at 20 kph with 30 mps sustained winds and 45 mps gusts.
Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast to spread from Okinawa and Amami into Kyushu, Shikoku, Kinki, Tokai and Kanto-Koshin from Tuesday to Wednesday as the storm turns northeast.
Kyushu could see the worst road impacts from around noon Tuesday through noon Wednesday, while Kinki and Tokai face commute disruption Wednesday and Kanto may see effects linger into Thursday.
The Meteorological Agency warned of violent winds, high waves, storm surges, landslides, low-lying floods and overflowing rivers, with Pacific-facing slopes at higher risk of extreme downpours.
