A Russian pre-dawn strike partially collapsed an apartment block in Kyiv’s Podilsky district, with officials saying people were likely trapped under the rubble after a “double tap” attack.
At least 1 person was killed and 29 wounded — including 2 children — as missiles and drones damaged residential and commercial buildings, ignited fires, and cut power in three districts.
A suspected missile also struck a 24-story residential tower in Shevchenkivskyi, while debris hit a nine-story building, a clinic and a kindergarten site elsewhere in the capital.
Across Ukraine, the same wave of attacks killed at least 4 more people and wounded 24 in regions including Dnipro and Kharkiv, bringing the reported nationwide toll to at least 5 dead.
The assault followed Zelensky’s warning of a possible “massive” strike after Russia said it was starting systematic attacks on Kyiv, as Ukraine says it has hit 15 Russian refineries and disabled 40% of key refining capacity.
