That pressure intensified after Kimmel’s April 23 “expectant widow” joke about Melania Trump resurfaced following an April 25 shooting outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, prompting Trump allies to demand ABC fire him.
Kimmel said a prior suspension taught him he cannot do the show if he is micromanaged, adding he wants to avoid a “blaze of glory” exit even as he remains unsure what comes after late night.
