Two men, aged 47 and 67, were hospitalized with shock and light injuries after the Ta' Lourdes fireworks factory exploded in Maghtab on Monday morning.
The blast was heard several kilometers away and shattered windows across large parts of Malta, while causing heavy damage to nearby farms.
Several animals died in the explosion zone — including birds, rabbits and dairy cows — and farmers may struggle to recover losses because insurers often do not cover livestock deaths.
The factory sits in an area designated for agriculture, and the MaYA Foundation said affected breeders now need both financial and psychological support.
The same factory also exploded in 2018, when two people were seriously injured and four others suffered lighter injuries.
