Two suspects — a 26-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man — were arrested Sunday in the May 24 killing of 17-year-old Braylon Diaz, the Pierce County Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators say Diaz was walking with his girlfriend in Parkland when people in a red car robbed him of a necklace and shot him before fleeing.
Tulalip police arrested the woman at a Walmart, while the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office had already taken the man into custody; both were later booked or transferred to Pierce County authorities.
The sheriff's office has not released their names or filed charges publicly, and said additional persons of interest remain outstanding as the investigation continues.
The case drew wide attention in Parkland after detectives found the abandoned red vehicle in Federal Way and Diaz's school community held a vigil for the Washington High School junior.
