Two of the four inmates who escaped a Dallas County jail facility in Uniontown early Saturday were back in custody by Monday morning, Sheriff Michael Granthum said.
Authorities said the breakout began when one inmate faked a seizure, drawing two guards into a pod of about 40 inmates, where four men rushed and overpowered them.
The escapees then climbed three barbed-wire fences—using clothes to shield themselves from the blades—and ran about 100 yards to a waiting vehicle.
Still at large are Marquavious Billingsley, accused of assault after parole on a felony murder conviction, and Kevin Gunn, who was being held on robbery, identity theft and gun charges.
The escape adds pressure on Dallas County's strained jail system, which has housed inmates in Uniontown since a 2023 tornado destroyed the county jail in Selma.
