Four-month suspensions barred several Orlando police officers from working extra-duty events after a viral video showed women dancing and twerking around them during the Caribbean Carnival Festival.
The department said the officers, in uniform and on duty, failed to stop the behavior and even allowed one woman to climb onto a golf cart, falling short of professional standards.
An internal investigation is now examining whether department policies or regulations were violated at the festival, which is partly funded by Orange County through its arts and cultural affairs program.
Law-enforcement expert Jamie Copenhaver said the officers should have used common sense and simply driven away, warning the episode could damage their credibility on future calls.

Does the Orlando Police Department's response to viral videos reveal a deeper problem with its accountability system?
Were the officers building community rapport, or was their conduct a serious lapse in professional judgment?
