iOS 27 will let users photograph a receipt, assign charges to different people and generate Apple Cash payment requests for group bills, Bloomberg reported.
The feature is built into Apple Cash in the Wallet app, with bill-splitting also available through Messages and payment approvals supported on Apple Watch.
Apple is expected to unveil the tool as early as next week at WWDC, extending its push into everyday financial tasks and challenging third-party bill-splitting apps.
Apple Cash still works only in the United States, while iOS 27 is also set to add custom digital passes created by scanning items such as tickets and gym cards.
Is Apple's new bill-splitting tool a convenience feature or a massive data collection engine?
Can third-party bill-splitting apps survive when Apple builds their main feature directly into the iPhone?
