Vickrum Digwa Gets Life With 21-Year Minimum for Killing 18-Year-Old Henry Nowak

Southampton Crown Court jailed 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa for life with a minimum 21 years for murdering 18-year-old student Henry Nowak with a 21cm blade on 3 December.
Prosecutors said Digwa, described as obsessed with weapons, stabbed Nowak five times, then falsely claimed racial abuse and self-defence; the judge rejected that account and said it stirred racial tension.
Mark Nowak said his son was handcuffed as he lay dying while Digwa was treated with decency, and called for a full investigation into police handling of the scene.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has referred itself to the IOPC, while a deputy chief constable apologized and said officers had been misled by a 999 call and a complex crime scene.
The case has also widened debate over religious-blade laws after Sikh groups said the weapon was not a kirpan, and Digwa's mother will be sentenced on 17 July for hiding the knife.
