Jill Biden said Joe Biden left the 2024 presidential race because he believed he had "no choice" after losing support inside the Democratic Party, a decision she called heartbreaking.
The former first lady said the family still wanted him to stay in, insisting he remained fit to serve despite the disastrous June 2024 debate that left her frightened and saying she had never seen him like that before or since.
She rejected claims of cognitive decline, saying he was slowing with age but was still "the same Joe Biden," and said party figures who turned against him after the debate deeply hurt the family.
Jill Biden also said Joe Biden's cancer diagnosis after leaving office was a shock, suggested a missed PSA screening may have delayed detection, and defended his pardon of Hunter Biden as protection against targeting under Donald Trump.
