Kato Kaelin Backs Spencer Pratt in LA Mayor Race, Blasting Bass Over 2025 Fires

Kato Kaelin endorsed Spencer Pratt for Los Angeles mayor ahead of Tuesday’s primary, saying the city needs a leadership change and calling Karen Bass’s handling of the 2025 wildfires "awful."
More than 24 people were killed in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena fires, and Bass has faced sustained criticism for being out of the country during the disaster.
Kaelin, a longtime Los Angeles-area resident who cannot vote in the race because he lives outside city limits, also attacked Bass’s record on homelessness, drug abuse and street safety.
Pratt — a registered Republican running as an independent — has drawn backing from more than a dozen celebrities while pitching himself as a political outsider against Bass and City Councilwoman Nithya Raman.
Tuesday’s primary will send the top two finishers to November unless one candidate wins more than 50%, which would secure the mayor’s office outright.
