Serena Williams said she will resume professional tennis at Queen’s Club on June 8, ending a four-year absence with a doubles entry alongside Victoria Mboko.
The 44-year-old became eligible to compete again in February after spending six months in the sport’s mandatory anti-doping testing pool, a step that had fueled comeback speculation.
Queen’s will require a wild card because Williams has been off tour too long to enter directly, making the London grass event her first competitive stop in what she called a “next chapter.”
Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, said grass delivered some of the most meaningful moments of her career, raising the prospect that Queen’s could serve as a Wimbledon tune-up.
