Five stitches were needed to repair Riley Green’s earlobe after a fan threw a cell phone at him during a concert in Melbourne, Australia, he told Billboard.
Green, 37, said he briefly considered diving into the crowd but kept performing because he did not want one person to ruin the show for paying fans.
He said he finished the set despite blood running down his neck, joking that he looked "pretty cool" while singing "I Wish Grandpas Never Died."
The interview comes as Green keeps a busy profile: he recently said he would still play Kid Rock-headlined Rock the Country if the booking made financial sense and is set to join season 30 of "The Voice" as a coach.
