ASUS ROG on June 1 introduced the XBOX Ally X20 as a 20th-anniversary bundle, pairing the handheld with XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses instead of selling it standalone.
The new model adds a 7.4-inch 120Hz Nebula HDR OLED display—ROG’s first on an Ally—along with an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, 24GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB PCIe 4.0 storage.
Hardware changes also include TMR joysticks, a convertible four-way-to-eight-way D-pad, revised face buttons and a redesigned cooling system to protect the more heat-sensitive OLED panel.
The bundled AR glasses offer a 171-inch virtual screen at 4 meters, a 240Hz micro-OLED display, 3DoF tracking and single-cable USB-C connection for portable play.
The release doubles as a collector’s edition for ROG’s 20 years since 2006, using a translucent black shell and gold internal structure to emphasize the anniversary branding.
Is the Ally X20's mandatory AR bundle a bold glimpse into gaming's future or just a costly barrier for fans?
Does the new microSD Express slot finally make expandable storage as fast as a console's internal drive?
