Bangladesh Raises Petrol, Octane Prices by Tk 5 as June 1 Rates Take Effect

Petrol and octane rose by Tk 5 a litre from June 1, taking their retail prices to Tk 140 and Tk 145, while diesel stayed at Tk 115 and kerosene at Tk 135.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Division said the reset followed Bangladesh’s automatic fuel-pricing formula, which tracks international oil prices, exchange rates and import costs.
This is the second fuel-price increase in six weeks after an April 18 revision that pushed prices to a record high and marked the first mid-month change under the 2024 mechanism.
That April move came after the government had subsidized fuel during the US-Israel war on Iran, underscoring how global shocks are still feeding into domestic pump prices.
