DKK 1.3 billion — about $202 million — was spent developing 007 First Light, making the James Bond game Denmark’s most expensive cultural product across film, TV, music and games.
Seven years of building a new Bond title from scratch drove the cost, according to Danish Broadcasting Corporation and TV 2; it remains unclear whether marketing is included.
IO Interactive has not commented on the budget, but said the game sold more than 1.5 million units in its first 24 hours after release last week.
Critical reception has been strong, with an 87 Metacritic average and a “Mighty” OpenCritic rating, giving the costly franchise pivot early commercial and review momentum.
