DITT Construction has begun work on the first 32 homes at North Staneyhill in Lerwick after securing the £9.7 million contract earlier this year.
The contractor is now recruiting experienced first-fix and second-fix joiners, pitching the roles as part of a growing team with long-term work opportunities.
Those 32 one-bed homes are the opening phase of a wider masterplan expected to deliver about 300 new properties, with completion of this first stage scheduled for late 2028.
Hjaltland Housing Association says the scheme will add much-needed affordable housing, while government and bank backing has helped offset inflation, supply-chain strain and higher labour and material costs.

Amid soaring costs and policy failures, can this £9.7M project make a real dent in Shetland's housing crisis?
