Runway Picks London for European HQ, Pledges Over $200 Million to UK AI by 2028

Runway said it will base its European headquarters in London and invest more than $200 million in the U.K. AI ecosystem by the end of 2028.
London gives the U.S. AI company closer access to major European customers including BBC, Fremantle and WPP, while tapping a deep local research and talent pool, co-founder Anastasis Germanidis said.
The company is building “world models” that learn from audio, images, video and real-world data, alongside video-generation and editing tools.
Runway’s expansion follows a $315 million Series E that valued it at $5.3 billion and adds to a broader push by U.S. AI firms into London after Anthropic and OpenAI announced new U.K. growth plans.
