148 passengers and crew were rescued off Marmaris after the pirate-themed Big Boss Diamond sank in Akvaryum Bay shortly after departing the Turkish resort town.
20 children were among those on board, and passengers had to jump into the Mediterranean and wait in the water until rescue crews brought everyone safely to shore.
No injuries were reported by the Mugla Governorship, though several passengers said they saw the boat’s engine catch fire before it began taking on water.
Yagna Tourism, which owns the vessel, said all aboard were safe and that trips would continue on another boat while Big Boss Diamond is repaired.
