June 6-10 marks Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim’s first overseas trip as Taiwan’s No. 2 official, with a visit to diplomatic ally Palau.
Taipei cast the trip as part of its effort to counter Beijing’s campaign to isolate Taiwan internationally.
Karen Kuo, a Presidential Office spokesperson, announced the itinerary at a briefing in Taipei on Monday.
Palau is one of the few states that maintain formal diplomatic ties with Taiwan, making such visits symbolically important as China steps up pressure on Taipei.
