128 months in prison were imposed on Mohamed A. Hared, 26, after he pleaded guilty in January to second-degree unintentional murder in the fatal shooting of coworker Ahmed Ibrahim Cariif, 22.
June 29, 2024 surveillance and witness evidence showed the confrontation at an Amazon fulfillment center in Lakeville began over a missing flashlight attachment from Hared's handgun after the men carpooled to an overnight shift.
Prosecutors said Hared told coworkers, "No one's going home today," then drew the gun during a second confrontation; the first shot hit a vehicle, and the second struck Cariif in the chest, killing him at the scene.
700 days of jail credit were applied, and Hared remains in custody pending transfer to the Minnesota Department of Corrections as Dakota County's attorney called the killing senseless workplace gun violence.
