Toronto Sun reported Max Domi could not walk in the days after back surgery, a complication that has put the Maple Leafs forward's status for 2026-27 in doubt.
Toronto said May 25 that the 31-year-old had surgery to address an issue he played through in 2025-26 and would be out indefinitely because of complications from the procedure.
Steve Simmons wrote the operation was not deemed successful and said Domi chose his own surgeon rather than the one preferred by the Leafs.
Domi still appeared in 80 games this season, scoring 12 goals and 36 points, and has played at least 74 games in each of his three Toronto seasons.
