2027 is now Apple’s target for N50 smart glasses after it shifted resources away from a near-term Vision Pro sequel, positioning the device as a lighter iPhone companion rather than a mixed-reality headset.
Under 50 grams, the glasses are being designed with two front cameras, microphones, open-ear speakers and an Apple Watch-derived chip, while heavier AI tasks run on a paired iPhone over Bluetooth or ultra-wideband.
$299 to $499 is the expected starting price, with prescription lenses supported and multiple frame shapes and colors under test for launch.
3 million to 5 million units could ship in the first year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimates, with production expected to ramp in the second quarter of 2027 and an announcement possible in late 2026.
