Masoud Pezeshkian sent a resignation letter to Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s office, saying he could no longer run the government after the IRGC sidelined the president and other senior officials.
Anonymous officials told Iran International the rupture centered on how the war was managed and on its destructive impact on livelihoods and Iran’s economy, with the IRGC chief believed to hold the bulk of power.
The report adds to signs of a fractured leadership structure: US officials told CBS last week that Khamenei is hiding in a secret location and can be reached only through a courier network.
That isolation has left even top Iranian officials unaware of Khamenei’s whereabouts, underscoring how formal state institutions appear to be losing influence to security power centers.
