Apple Delays Apple TV 4K, HomePod Mini Until iOS 27 Siri Is Ready

Apple has kept new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini models launch-ready for months, with both devices already in internal use at its Cupertino headquarters, Bloomberg reported.
The holdup is software: Apple wants the hardware to ship alongside a more personalized Siri tied to iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, due to be unveiled at WWDC on June 8.
That timing points to a broader release around September after beta testing, putting the devices roughly 3-4 months away despite long gaps since the current Apple TV 4K debuted in October 2022 and HomePod mini in October 2020.
Feature changes are expected to be modest, centered on newer chips that can run Apple Intelligence-era Siri; the Apple TV may also get a refreshed Siri Remote, while the HomePod mini could add better sound and updated wireless chips.
The Siri delay is also holding up other home devices, including a full-size HomePod refresh and Apple's planned smart home hub.
