Sparq said its new AI tool plugs into compatible cars and tells owners what is wrong, what repairs are needed and what those fixes are likely to cost.
The startup built the product after its founders ran into a fragmented repair process in which diagnosis, repair and pricing often came from different people.
US-spec cars built after 2008 can use the port, while Sparq says 2009 and newer models are fully compatible because of the CAN bus standard adopted by then.
The app currently works only on iOS, which Sparq chose over Android because Apple devices are more standardized.
Sparq is focusing first on gasoline cars and hybrids because its system is designed around engine faults, while founders say a future version could expand into EVs and predictive maintenance.
