Sunday morning, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said two children who were pulled from Turkey Creek a day earlier died at the hospital.
Around 4:02 p.m. Saturday, deputies and Palmerdale Fire responded to Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Pinson after the siblings went under water near the bank and were swept away.
Two bystanders and a deputy pulled the children from the creek within about 10 to 12 minutes, and first responders began lifesaving efforts before they were taken to UAB.
Turkey Creek’s Falls area is a popular family swimming spot and has drawn past water-rescue calls, officials said, as the sheriff’s office continues investigating.
