Game 7 elimination by San Antonio pushed Oklahoma City into an offseason centered on three priorities: reshaping the roster, getting key creators healthy and extending guard Cason Wallace.
Dort’s $18.2 million expiring deal and Hartenstein’s $28.5 million team option are the clearest levers, with OKC potentially moving one or both to add a star creator or more offensive depth.
That need sharpened after lineups with Dort, Hartenstein and Chet Holmgren posted a minus-46.4 net rating against the Spurs, exposing the Thunder’s lack of scoring punch around Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Health is the other immediate issue: Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell combined for just 134 minutes in the conference finals, leaving Gilgeous-Alexander overburdened as he shot 40.9% from the field and 28.6% from 3.
Wallace, still 22 and newly a Second Team All-Defense pick, is extension-eligible this summer and fits OKC’s long-term core after shooting 37.4% from three for his career.
Is OKC's 'irreplaceable' center the key to another title, or the first casualty of their financial crisis?
Facing a record payroll, will the Thunder trade a young star like Jalen Williams to preserve their championship window?
