Samsung’s rumored Galaxy S27 Pro could be the first Galaxy phone to use an ALoP telephoto system, pairing a 3.5x optical zoom camera with a slimmer chassis.
The ALoP layout is designed to fit larger lenses and sensors without adding thickness, and Samsung has said it can shorten the camera module by 22% versus folded optics.
That setup could also improve image quality by letting more light reach the sensor, with the 3.5x zoom seen as more practical for portraits and everyday shooting than 10x-style telephoto options.
The camera may also help separate the S27 Pro from the S27 Ultra, which is rumored to drop a dedicated 3x camera and rely on a 5x telephoto instead.
Samsung first teased ALoP in 2024, but no Galaxy model has adopted it yet; the S27 line is also rumored to face price hikes in 2027.
Can Samsung's new ALoP camera tech finally deliver a true flagship experience in a compact phone without the usual compromises?
With rivals mastering 5x zoom, is Samsung's split camera strategy for the S27 a bold innovation or a risky market gamble?
