Fuzhou and Xiamen have introduced three-day spring and autumn school holidays, with Xiamen tying its spring break to the Qingming Festival to lengthen time off.
The new breaks align with Beijing's addition of five public-holiday days this year, part of a broader push to lift travel and consumer spending in an economy where consumption remains weak.
Dozens of other Chinese localities are also offering extra school breaks, extending a policy shift that Morgan Stanley said could help domestic travel generate 50 trillion yuan over five years.
Tourism's share of per-capita consumption could rise to 18% by 2030 from 13% in 2023, though heavy holiday crowds are already deterring some travelers from visiting popular destinations.
