Trinidad and Tobago government and military leaders visited the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Nimitz on May 25 during a distinguished visitor tour in the U.S. 4th Fleet area of responsibility.
Defense Minister Wayne Sturge met Trinidad-American sailors on the flight deck as the carrier continued its Southern Seas 2026 deployment.
Southern Seas 2026 is aimed at boosting regional capability, improving interoperability and strengthening maritime partnerships through joint multinational and interagency exchanges.
The visit underscores U.S. Navy efforts to use the deployment to deepen defense ties with Caribbean and regional partners.
