Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport opened its new South Red Deck on Monday, adding more than 7,000 parking spaces with direct terminal access.
The deck includes ticketless entry and exit, EV chargers and other convenience features aimed at making pickups, drop-offs and parking easier for travelers.
Airport officials said the expansion responds to social media complaints about parking capacity raised in 2023 and is meant to prepare for future passenger growth.
The project also comes ahead of the summer travel rush, when the airport expects heavier demand and wants to ease congestion around terminal parking.
As ATL adds 7,000 parking spots, is its potential security overhaul the more critical fix for traveler chaos?
While a new deck eases parking woes, is the world's busiest airport overlooking more sustainable transit solutions?
