Systema found foreign governesses teaching Vladimir Putin’s two youngest sons worked under contracts banning any discussion of LGBT topics, sex education, religion, politics or ideology without employer approval.
At least 3.5 million rubles was paid in January 2026 to three governesses, who were formally listed as “leading translators” at a Sogaz-linked institute to secure visas and work permits.
Documents from 2017-2026 show about 20 tutors cycled through the household, with four to six staff assigned per child and orders to immerse Ivan in English and German like an “educated European.”
The same records describe tight controls on staff: repeated medical screenings, dismissal for illnesses lasting more than three weeks, multi-page daily reports and periods when they were barred from leaving the Valdai residence.
The findings deepen the contrast between Putin’s anti-Western public posture and the heavily Westernized, tightly managed upbringing reported for sons Ivan and Vladimir with Alina Kabaeva.
