  • Three internet and telecom providers were ordered to stop pole climbing, cable installation and other outdoor field work until they meet Occupational Safety and Health standards and win Dole-7 clearance.
  • Inspections found missing safety officers and certified first aiders, weak hazard assessments and other lapses in high-risk jobs involving utility poles, overhead lines and live electrical equipment.
  • Dole-7 said the violations followed accidents involving falls and electrocution and also endangered motorists, pedestrians and nearby residents through dangling wires, exposed electrical parts and falling materials.
  • Hearings are due within the week, while the unnamed firms must keep paying affected workers' wages and benefits during the stoppage.
  • The three companies are part of an initial batch in Dole-7's continuing Central Visayas inspection campaign, with more enforcement possible against other violators.
