$10,000 is being offered by the US Marshals Service for information leading to Michael Puckett, who remains the target of a manhunt after shooting two Carroll County deputies.
Deputy Logan Utt, a military veteran who joined the sheriff’s office in 2023, was killed after deputies went to 13658 Fancy Gap Highway around 9:26 p.m. Friday for a welfare check.
The sheriff’s office said Puckett opened fire when deputies made contact, and both deputies were hit; the second deputy was struck in a ballistic vest, is stable and undergoing medical evaluation.
Carroll County authorities warned that Puckett is armed and extremely dangerous, telling the public not to approach him and to call 911 with any sightings or information.
