May 28 marked the opening of Portal Lounge at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, a 3,800-square-foot independent lounge built around gaming, dining, music and robot-made drinks.
17 gaming stations anchor the concept, offering Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation and custom PCs with nearly 30 titles, as the founders target travelers looking to turn layovers and delays into entertainment time.
A robotic bartender — described by the company as the first of its kind in a U.S. airport lounge — serves cocktails and mocktails alongside a traditional bar, making the drink service part of the attraction.
Portal Lounge holds about 114 people and is accessible through Priority Pass and some Chase, American Express and Capital One programs, with walk-in entry expected to cost about $70 when space is available.
MSP handled about 36 million passengers in 2025, giving the Gameway founders a large test bed for a broader shift from quiet, airline-linked lounges toward common-use airport spaces built as social experiences.
