A 19-year-old man died in hospital after emergency crews pulled him from Balderton Lake near Newark on Thursday, Nottinghamshire Police said Saturday.
Police said he had been at the lake with friends, was treated by paramedics at the scene and then taken to hospital, where he did not survive.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said one man got out of the water and crews rescued another man, later confirmed by police as the victim who died.
Officers said there are no suspected suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner, as police and fire officials urged caution around open water during hot weather.
