Bill Maher said after interviewing Spencer Pratt on his podcast that he came away impressed, calling the Republican Los Angeles mayoral candidate "a nice guy" who is "very honest" about the issues he cares about.
Pratt's outsider campaign is drawing unusual attention in Los Angeles days before the June 2 nonpartisan primary, with Maher saying "he's on everybody's mind" and Kevin McCarthy praising his ads.
A UC Berkeley-Los Angeles Times poll released Thursday put Karen Bass at 26%, Nithya Raman at 25% and Pratt at 22%, with Bass' edge described as statistically insignificant.
Campaign filings also showed Pratt raising $2.72 million from April 19 to May 16, far ahead of Bass' $283,000 and Raman's roughly $401,000.
Pratt says he entered politics after the 2025 Palisades fires destroyed his family home; if no candidate wins a majority, the top two advance to the Nov. 3 general election.
