Season two of Prime Video’s hockey romance Off Campus is about to start filming, with Stephen Kalyn set to move into the spotlight as Dean Di Laurentis alongside Mika Abdalla’s Allie Hayes.
Kalyn, 28, said his years playing hockey from age 6 through AA minor hockey helped him land and prepare for the role, including a two-week bootcamp where he helped castmates on the ice.
The actor originally auditioned for John Logan before being called back months later for Dean, then booked the part after a rapid round of meetings and chemistry reads.
Season one adapted Elle Kennedy’s The Deal, while season two shifts to The Score, the third book in the series and the Dean-Allie storyline that fans had already embraced.
Kalyn said the series aims to challenge toxic masculinity in sports culture, while he expects the next season to be "sweet and loving and heartbreaking."
