Ram Gopal Varma called FWICE’s non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh a “big fat joke,” saying the federation was staging “performative muscle flexing” rather than protecting workers.
On X, Varma argued FWICE is neither a court nor a regulator, challenged technicians to publicly prove losses from Singh’s reported Don 3 exit, and said the dispute should stay between the two parties.
The row stems from Singh’s alleged abrupt withdrawal from Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 in December, with FWICE saying he ignored three invitations before replying that the matter was outside its jurisdiction.
FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit said negotiations could still continue over Rs 45 crore in damages that Akhtar is reportedly seeking, warning the unresolved case could set a bad industry precedent.
Support for Singh has widened after Dhurandhar’s success, with CINTAA vice-president Padmini Kolhapure backing him and his spokesperson saying he chose silence to preserve dignity and mutual respect.
