Specialized Prepares Redesigned Crux Release as 2022 Gravel Bike Nears Phaseout

Specialized appears close to unveiling a completely redesigned Crux, with recent race photos showing a new version under Geerike Schreurs at the Gralloch UCI Gravel World Series.
The incoming bike looks markedly more aero than the 2022 model, swapping round tubes, a round seatpost and visible cables for deeper tube shapes, a proprietary seatpost and a fully integrated cockpit.
That shift would end a 2022 Crux generation widely praised as a light, versatile gravel bike after Specialized repositioned the model from cyclocross toward the fast-growing gravel segment.
Anne-Marije Rook argues the outgoing design's external front cable routing, 27.2mm round seatpost, BSA bottom bracket and generous tire clearance made it unusually easy to service, customize and race across multiple disciplines.
The redesign reflects a broader industry move toward more aerodynamic, integrated gravel bikes with wider tires, even as riders may lose some of the current bike's simplicity and parts compatibility.
