Noboa Lifts Tariffs on Colombian Products From June 1, Announces Extradition Deal

June 1 is the effective date for Ecuador to remove its “security” tariffs on Colombian products, President Daniel Noboa said in a post on X.
A video call with Colombian presidential candidate Abelardo de la Espriella preceded the move, with Noboa praising the contender’s hard-line approach to fighting crime.
Noboa also said he reached an agreement with De la Espriella to extradite Ecuadorian criminals currently in Colombia.
The announcement came two days before Colombians head to the polls, tying trade and security issues to the election backdrop.
